First safety razor purchased and I love it. I have had no problems with it even as I was first learning to use it. Very elegant to look at and it has a nice weight to it as well.

I just received my Merkur and I am very pleased. This is my first safety razor and the look, feel and design is top notch. I would never have thought that my first razor, being rather low on the price point, would be of such quality. Well done.

I received this razor two weeks ago and I've only knicked myself twice. This is a fantastic razor; all of the positive reviews about this being a great razor for first-timers were right. I'm using Wilkinson Sword Blades as I had seen many favorable reviews about them as well. Great Blades-Great Razor.

I bought this razor as the answer to buying replaement catridges all the time and found it to be so much more. The shave is great, refills are inexpensive and it looks much better in the stand on the sink than the cheapo plastic disposables. Can't go wrong with this razor. A++++

I've owned a Merkur HD 34C for three years. I use it for my face and my head (bald). I absolutely swear buy this model. This is the best double edge shaver available today. With the right blade selection, quality soap and a little practice, you will achieve a squeaky-clean shave. For bald guys, here's my tip: First, don't rush. Soften head stubble with hot water. Use Merkur blades that are a little dulled down from a week or so from face-shaving. Lather head with soap and brush. Use slow, front-to-back 30 degree strokes. Re-lather and repeat if needed. Shave more cautiously on your neck. Last, condition the scalp/neck before and after your head shave with soothing balm or lotion. Have fun shaving and saving $$$!

This too, is my first DE razor. Seeing it brought back the days of seeing my father shave and copying him with my empty bladed DE! When I told my colleagues that I decided to go for an old fashioned DE, they all thought I was crazy. However, with a (very) small learning curve, this razor (w Merkur Double Edge Platinum Blades) is fantastic. It feels sturdy in the hand, is made extremely well and rinses easily. Slowing down a bit and paying attention to your shave is nice in this hectic world we all live in. I would highly recommend this razor.

This razor is my first, and still only DE. After a full year of use, I've been satisfied enough not to bother putting out for an additional razor. It's easy to load, has a great feel in the hand, and easy to hold securely. The handle is not real long, but is fine in my large hands. I especially like the thickness of the handle and the weight of this instrument.

While i don't have anything to compare this razor to as it is my first DE razor i would like to say that this razor has been great. I'v done alot of research before i purchased the HD and i must say all the people that recommended this razor were right. If your looking for a good all around razor this one could be the one for you.
