I recently bought the Merkur Futur, chrome Plated Polshed 701 DE razor. I looks good, heavy, well chromed. However, when you look at it from the top to the bottom you can see that the blade is uneven. You can visually adjust it by eye turning the lid but only on one side. The other is till uneven. This has cause me to have nicks because of the uneven blade. Looks can be deceiving and in this case they are. I am now look for a replacement such as the Feather All Stainless DE Razor or PILS DE Razor. I do not recommend this razor. Bad investment.

I was given this razor in polished chrome finish. It took a week or so to get use to this razor but now use it daily. It is heavier than most, but if used correctly will give you a great shave. I use a parker long handle to clean up the lower sensitive neck area, and together I get a very close shave. The only thing I don't understand is why with all their technology, Merkur couldn't understand the need for a better gripping handle. The handle is smooth and slips in your hand when wet. A rough or grooved surface would have made this the perfect razor.

After 15 years of shaving with an electric razor and trying "highly recommended" razors with only a result of hundreds of bumps I decided to try a the Futur razor. The best thing I ever did! My first couple of shaves still resulted with quite a few bumps but not nearly as many as with the disposables and by my third shave my face felt absolutely amazing. A must have for any man.

I used a Gilette DE razor when I first started shaving. When I tried to find a new one, the only ones around were on e-bay. I then found the Merkurs, and the Futur gives a nice shave. Granted, it was not quite as comfortable as the Sensor Excel I was using but once I re-learned how to use a DE, it is no problem, and I now find it preferable. It is nice using a good, sharp blade, rather than the disposable garbage that you must replace weekly. I was leary of a non-adjustable DE, so I went with the Futur. I loved the appearance of some of the others, but I thought the adjustability option would be best over the long haul. Man up, and buy this razor!
