I am brand new to DE shaving. I called Royal Shave and worked with Jonathan. The customer service was fantastic. He not only talked me through different razor options, but also made sure the stand, brush and razor I chose were all compatible. The products are all high quality and my first shave went better than I expected. The long handle and heft are great. I definitely recommend Merkur razors and the Royal Shave team.

I am new to double edged shaving, and I am glad that I switched. I am extremely happy with my Merkur (38C), and I would recommend it to anyone interested in DE shaving. From what I have read, it is not only for newbies, but a good razor for advanced DE shavers as well. |

I grew up shaving on a double edge razor. Like many I switched to cartridges and blue gel for the last 30 years without thinking about it too much. When I recently went to the local drug store to re stock I saw the cartridges were locked up. That's when I realized there was something seriously wrong with this picture. In my return to DE shaving, I picked this razor because of the quality of the craftsmanship and materials. The longer handle is comfortable for those with long fingers. I'd also suggest buying an assortment of blades to see which work best for your beard; there is difference in sharpness and feel.

I'm new to the whole wet shave scene but I bought the 38c because all the great reviews. I'm glad that I did. Not only is this a great looking razor but the learning curve is short. |

One of Merkur's better razors!, 6.23.2010

One of the most consistent razors I have ever shaved with. With the proper blade yields an incredibly close shave. Not the least expensive razor made, but in terms of the shave it yields it is worth every penny.
The grip could be a little better-as the knurling is not that pronounced--though mine has never slipped out of my hand. Blade swaps are easy, as easy as a two piece can be anyway. It is not as aggressive as a Slant or a Futur dialed all the way up, but it has the perfect amount of aggressiveness in my opinion.
Balance and heft are exceptional; this is an easy razor to handle.

I recently posted on the Royal Shave Facebook page about the outstanding service I received. I am new to the wetshaving experience and appreciate the time the Royal Shave rep took to explain the benefits of the Merkur DE razors. I have successfully shaved (i.e. no cuts or irritation) several times now with the Merkur 38c I purchased. I currently use a drugstore-bought boarhair brush (again I'm new to this, I didn't know any better) and Williams brand shaving soap. I plan on purchasing a Vulfix badger brush and trying various brands of soaps until I get a combination that I'm satisfied with for the long term. Thank you again Royal Shave, and good riddance to you Mach3!

I like the Merkur 38C because of the length of the handle, weight of the razor and ease of changing blades. The barber pole style handle makes a good gripping surface. The chrome finish cleans up very easily.
