I shaved this morning with my DE89L head screwed on a weber bulldog stainless handle. After reading for hours distributed into months, I ordered a Merkur 33C from RoyalShave. As I read, the 33C and 34C have the same head. Their difference is in the handle. When I got it this afternoon (a very reasonable 4 days free shipping), I took it of it's box, put a Feather, screw my handle and shave again ( 11 hours after the last shave ). Wow. This is the closest shave I ever had. To the skin without any cut. In summary, the 33C head with the weber bulldog stainless handle are a winning combo.

I absolutely love this razor. It's my first Merkur and I get the closest, most enjoyable shaves from it when using Feather blades. As others have said, it's not too aggressive and not too tame...it's perfect. It's also very high quality and built to last for many, many years.

This is my first DE razor, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a start. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and this high quality razor will get many years of use from me.

I was really nervous about going from the Shick/Gillette plastic razors to a DE razor. Even my father and father-in-law both said "Man, we used to really knick ourselves up with those DE razors!"
But the RoyalShave people were the best. I called and told them my problem. They recommended the Merkur razor with Wilkinson Sword blades. What a great choice! I've got the closest shave ever! I can't wait to get a little better in the shaving soap department. But the blade is top notch!
For you DE newbies --
1. Take your time shave .. don't rush this process
2. Get your face nice, hot, and wet - keep it that way
3. Hold your razor at a 45 degree angle and DON'T PRESS DOWN. The razor will do the work .. DON'T PRESS DOWN!
4. Get a nice after-shave
5. Enjoy the manly experience!
Thanks again Royal Shave!!

I've been shaving with cheap disposable razors ever since I started shaving. I was hesitant about blowing $30 on a razor, but I don't know a better way I could have spent the money! I actually look forward to shaving as part of my morning routine now instead of putting it off day after day!

i use this razor with Merkur blades since ?? forever. and it is jsut perfect, not too small, not too heavy , just right. I ried holding (not shavingg) the fancy new one, but they seem too heavy for me.
