5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Great for a college kid on a budget, 4.18.2014
Reviewer: Andrew C (Whitewater, Wisconsin)

I am 19 and have recently started shaving on a regular basis. However, being in college I quickly realized how ridiculously expensive those disposable cartridge razors are and quickly looked for an alternative. I was slightly skeptical about using a DE razor, simply because I have never even heard of them prior to doing research about alternatives to cartridge shaving. Long story short, I ordered the 33c on a whim, ordered some Lord blades, and could not be happier. I have pretty sensitive skin and regularly have small acne outbreaks, so I was nervous to get one- but wow what a change in my skin overall. Extremely smooth shave, no razor burn or knicks (however it will take some getting use too, and require proper technique) and I have seen acne clear up over the past month that I have used this thing. Its been a great investment and I have saved a whole lot of money as well. I can't imagine myself NOT using a DE anymore!

My first time using a safety razor, and I love it. I have only used it twice so far, and I already know I have made a good choice.

I have been using my Merker 33c safety razor for a a week now and i love it. What have I been missing all this time? It takes a little getting used to at first. But once you get the hang of it you will be amazed. The Merker lives my face baby smooth. I also like the sandalwood soap, and brush set. All in all I'm sole on royal shave as a company.

This was my first DE Safety razor. I have 4 now, but this is still in the rotation and is my travel rzor. Like all Merkur DE razors, this thing is well built and will last forever if cared for.

Old school is back and works great. I will never go back to cheap, plastic razors. I will be a Royal Shave customer for a long time to come.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 I wanted the 34C, 6.4.2013
Reviewer: James (Laguna Hills, CA)

I was recommended the 34C instead of the 33C, but it was out of stock. The folks over at RoyalShave said the 33C would be a good alternative... so I thought, "why not!" At least I could still practice while waiting for the 34C. Now that I have the 33C, I don't think I would switch. Apparently the 34C is heavier, but shorter. I'm about 6ft2in, so I can't imagine having to wrap my hands around a shorter handle. I'll probably stick with the 33C until I can swing by the Royalshave office to handle the 34C before switching

I shaved this morning with my DE89L head screwed on a weber bulldog stainless handle. After reading for hours distributed into months, I ordered a Merkur 33C from RoyalShave. As I read, the 33C and 34C have the same head. Their difference is in the handle. When I got it this afternoon (a very reasonable 4 days free shipping), I took it of it's box, put a Feather, screw my handle and shave again ( 11 hours after the last shave ). Wow. This is the closest shave I ever had. To the skin without any cut. In summary, the 33C head with the weber bulldog stainless handle are a winning combo.

I absolutely love this razor. It's my first Merkur and I get the closest, most enjoyable shaves from it when using Feather blades. As others have said, it's not too aggressive and not too tame...it's perfect. It's also very high quality and built to last for many, many years.

This is my first DE razor, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a start. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and this high quality razor will get many years of use from me.

I was really nervous about going from the Shick/Gillette plastic razors to a DE razor. Even my father and father-in-law both said "Man, we used to really knick ourselves up with those DE razors!" But the RoyalShave people were the best. I called and told them my problem. They recommended the Merkur razor with Wilkinson Sword blades. What a great choice! I've got the closest shave ever! I can't wait to get a little better in the shaving soap department. But the blade is top notch! For you DE newbies -- 1. Take your time shave .. don't rush this process 2. Get your face nice, hot, and wet - keep it that way 3. Hold your razor at a 45 degree angle and DON'T PRESS DOWN. The razor will do the work .. DON'T PRESS DOWN! 4. Get a nice after-shave 5. Enjoy the manly experience! Thanks again Royal Shave!!

I've been shaving with cheap disposable razors ever since I started shaving. I was hesitant about blowing $30 on a razor, but I don't know a better way I could have spent the money! I actually look forward to shaving as part of my morning routine now instead of putting it off day after day!

i use this razor with Merkur blades since ?? forever. and it is jsut perfect, not too small, not too heavy , just right. I ried holding (not shavingg) the fancy new one, but they seem too heavy for me.
