Pils shaving products are the perfect harmony between form and function. This gorgeously designed razor brings together old world shaving with a sleek, modern finish. The 104NE has a unique black acrylic glass handle that is not slippery when wet. The rest of the razor is 100% solid stainless steel with a satin matte finish. The design behind this Pils two piece razor is different from others. The head of the razor spins freely for replacing blades and shuts when screwed close. We recommend using only high quality stainless steel razor blades with this razor as carbon steel blades may cause rust.

So after 30 years, my Merkur slant blade was starting to show some wear. It is the only blade I have ever used. After over a year of research and reading all of the glowing reviews I settled on the Pils. I have used this razor for six months now and feel it is an appropriate to share an opinion. After some trial and error I figured that the angle required to generate a close shave is much steeper than what I am used to. I have to hold it an awkward angle adjacent to my face - any other angle provides for a rough uneven shave. The tight areas around the nose are almost unreachable based on this angle. The closeness of the shave is ok, if you are dillegent about the angle, but not as close as the $55 dollar slant blade. Overall this razor is heavy and a bit clumsy and slippery when wet. My opinion: if you are new to wet shaving, don't have a heavy beard and want to start out with a new blade that is safe and looks cool, then thiis not a bad option. However, I bought this blade thinking it was a move up or an improvement over what I had - which it is not. I am about to move this blade into the secondary spot on the rotation and go back to my Merkur. I guess the grass is not always greener.

the wife gave this to me as a gift because she "was in love with the look". after hearing that, i wasn't sure what to think anymore, but sure enough - the razor is amazing! i've read that sometimes slick handles like this can be a bit slippery, but i didn't have that problem with this razor at all. looks great for the wife and works great for me!

I would give it a five star if I bought the stainless model. I bought this model because of its look. The shave was very smooth, however, the head is heavier than the handle because the handle is made of acrylic. I have a better grip on my Feather stainless razor, and this one is little loose when the handle is wet. But overall, this is a good razor.
