Well built razor. Quality materials and superior workmanship. This razor will last for decades.
I have read some reviews that label this razor as too mild and overpriced, but after using it myself perhaps that is for the better. This razor will cut only one way - the right way. The correct blade angle and pressure is the only way it will cut, perhaps saving the shaver from himself. Using the right prep, blade angle, and pressure, this razor provides a superior shave, baby skin smooth, and without a single nick. No razor burn whatsoever, even if used incorrectly. It's pricey but well worth the investment. This is a luxury item that comes with a luxury price, but you would be hard pressed to find this kind of quality in a less expensive razor.

Excellent Shave, but expensive for what you get, 7.31.2011

I just recently received this razor and it does indeed give a very good shave. It doesnt grab and pull and one pass is usually enough for with the grain shaving. It appears strong and it should last many years if simple care is used. I actually TRIED to get it to start nicking and had a hard time doing that. Just a light glide across the skin is all you need, especially with the feather and kai branded blades.
However, I looked closer and most, if not all the razor is made from metal injection molding (MIM). Being very generous in my estimate, this razor couldnt possibly cost more that $10.00 US to mold and fire in an oven. The box it came in was really nice but a more practical travel case would be even nicer. They could of included more than 1 pack of blades for what I paid.
In short, great to excellent razor, should last a lifetime and then some, very forgiving in its use, I am very satisfied, but $189 ?? Ouch !!

The Feather DE Razor is a very high quality stainless steel razor.
It gives a very nice close shave. I am now trying to determine the best
blades for my face. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a high
quality razor for a good price.

Once you put the first blade in you will notice the quality of workmanship. The blade is tight and the weight is very well balanced. I use with Feather blades and get a close comfortable shave. My HD will be collecting dust.

It seemed like alot of money to spend but in reality it was money well spent. I have been using the father blades and the combination with the razor gives a truly incredible shaving experience. I have sensitive skin and neck irritation is sometimes an issue, I have none at all with this razor. an incredible smooth shave. Best I ever had. Buy it. It's about $0.50 per day if u sahve everyday than its paid for in a year.

I am not the type to say a razor is great because it is expensive. This razor is the worst investment in shaving I have made in the 20 or so years I have been shaving. The workmanship and materials are good but the overall design is downright bad.Back to the straight razors I go.

I was a little apprehensive to purchase a razor with a price tag of well over $100 but now that I have the razor I see now it is well worth the money.
Some people call this razor too mild, well if a completely baby butt smooth shave with zero razor burn is too mild,I will take the mild razor everytime.
The razor pairs perfectly with a Feather razor blade.

Outstanding Quality. Extremely well fabricated. Mild shave, not agressive. On the expensive side , but will last a lifetime or two or three. The shave reminds me of my Muhle R-89, Just heavier and is made of stainless steel, not plated. Yes I would purchase if you are serious about DE shaving. Doesn't get much better with a Feather or Kai blade ! You won't be dissappointed.

Feather Stainless Steel Safety Razor - Superb!, 6.6.2010

I knew I had to have one of these as soon as I saw it! Just such a lot of money for a safety razor...
Anyhow, I took the plunge and I'm glad I did. The manufacturing quality is splendid, and the weight, feel and balance are all first class.
This new Feather is a mild but effective shaver. Even used with the legendary "Ninja" sharp Feather blades, it is difficult to make a mistake. A very smooth performer.
Compared to most of the fixed-head razors in the Merkur range, the Feather might be considered a little less aggressive, but it does the job surprisingly well - one almost doesn't feel it cutting, but the whiskers are disappearing all right!
I'm delighted with my purchase, and look forward to having a grandson to whom I might pass it on. It will certainly last more than one lifetime.
