I chose the Edwin Jagger DE89 as my first DE razor, and find it is a brilliant razor, beautifully crafted and a treat to use. I believe it is a great choice for a DE razor, I enjoy the weight of it and it has been a pleasure to shave with. Although I am new to wet shaving and DE razors, I highly recommend this product.

Overall, an excellent razor for the price. Finish and general
quality is better than expected. I couldn't ask for a razor with a better
weight balance between the head and the handle. My only gripe is that the
handle is a bit small for my large hands, but it hasn't affected the quality
of my shave. Also, the smooth chrome surface on the handle hasn't been an
issue for me as it has for others. I am able to maintain a grip without a
problem.

this is my first double edge razor, but it blows away the multi blade wasted money I have been using. Close, comfortable shaves with no nicks. The closed bar is very forgiving. Can not beat the price/value of this razor

This is my first DE razor, so I don't have another razor to compare. But, I do know quality. The finish on it is perfect, everywhere. While I'm still getting used to it, when I hit that perfect line, it's oooohhhh sooooooooooo smoooooth. The way too expensive name brand disposables I was using are inferior. Garbage. The EJ DE89 is a very stately looking razor, plain and simple. I am going to be shouting from the rooftop of somewhere very high nothing but praise for this razor. The razors I was using are mere toys compared to this piece of machinery. |

This was/is my first and only razor. It's what I learned DE shaving on and I can't imagine a better learning experience. It is gentle enough to not be overly aggressive but shaves enough off that you're not making 5 passes to get that BBS shave. I've found you have to find the right blade with this little guy because he'll show you how each blade acts. Also, the craftsmanship and attention to details is top of the line. Just awesome. Highly recommended!

Very well made with a gleaming chrome finish. This is my first safety razor so I can't compare with other ones. I wanted a razor that was bigger than a Merkur 34C but smaller than the 38c Barberpole. This razor is sized in between those two while still having enough weight to do the job. I have used it for a week now(6 shaves) with a badger brush and omega soap. Almost a perfect shave for me but I need a little more practice. I used a Kai blade.
