Why I waited so long to buy my first safety razor I'll never know. Got tired of buying expensive disposables and ordered this razor.best thing I have ever bought.excellent service from Royalshave ordered late Sunday night and got it on Wednesday and Monday was a Holliday. They has all of my future business.

This is one beautiful razor. 5 stars on the finish. My only issue would be the weight. This is built like a truck. I find myself going for the old gillette clunker most of the time. It's like a sport car in comparison. So yes the Jagger is a work of art but Gillette sure had excellent design back then. I would recommend this razor and all products from the Edwin Jagger Collection.

I wanted to get a razor with some type of finish on the handle, but this one was on sale, so I went for it. I was told that maybe it would slip because of the all chrome finish, but I really haven't had that problem. I use the razor when my hands are covered in lather and it's never been a problem. Overall, good price and I would recommend it to a friend.

I can't believe I made it to 42 years of age without trying a safety razor shave. I have had straight razor shaves on special occasions (my wedding day, etc) at a real barber, but never thought I could have that good of a job at home. In my lifetime, I've shaved with electric razors, cheap plastic razors, and those lubed multi-blade turbo cartridges. I ALWAYS..ALWAYS suffered razor burn and nicks. It got so bad that I let a beard come in to stop shaving. Well, a friend recommended using a safety razor - specifically the Edwin Jagger DE89. I am AMAZED. It never tugged, never took more than one pass, and left my neck and cheeks smooth and un-cut. I am sold. I'll never shave with anything else - WHEN I shave, that is. :)

High quality product - I have been using a razor that i thought was ok until i tried the de89. I would call it mild compared to my old DE, but really a very nice shave.

Reviewer: HL (, IL)

This is my first DE razor so I can't compare it to other DE razors, but I can tell you that it is much better that the multi blade systems out there. I'm new to wet shaving and I'm glad I chose the Edwin Jagger DE89 as my first razor. I'm still getting use to it but my shaves have been great so far. I highly recommend this razor for first time users.

Opening the box on this thing is like watching a brand new chromed Harley backing out of a garage. Talk about heft, this thing is wicked slick and nasty on the beard. Lathered up and on my first pass it annihilated a six day growth like nobody's bidness. It was like getting expertly sliced up by a Ninja Samurai. Second pass in the up direction and it was like I had never hit puberty. It was smoother than A politician trying to talk his way out of scandal. Most highly recommend. Go slow though because it'll lop your head clean off your shoulders.

I chose the Edwin Jagger DE89 as my first DE razor, and find it is a brilliant razor, beautifully crafted and a treat to use. I believe it is a great choice for a DE razor, I enjoy the weight of it and it has been a pleasure to shave with. Although I am new to wet shaving and DE razors, I highly recommend this product.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Excellent Affordable Razor, 6.3.2011
Reviewer: Chris (, )

Overall, an excellent razor for the price. Finish and general quality is better than expected. I couldn't ask for a razor with a better weight balance between the head and the handle. My only gripe is that the handle is a bit small for my large hands, but it hasn't affected the quality of my shave. Also, the smooth chrome surface on the handle hasn't been an issue for me as it has for others. I am able to maintain a grip without a problem.

this is my first double edge razor, but it blows away the multi blade wasted money I have been using. Close, comfortable shaves with no nicks. The closed bar is very forgiving. Can not beat the price/value of this razor

This is my first DE razor, so I don't have another razor to compare. But, I do know quality. The finish on it is perfect, everywhere. While I'm still getting used to it, when I hit that perfect line, it's oooohhhh sooooooooooo smoooooth. The way too expensive name brand disposables I was using are inferior. Garbage. The EJ DE89 is a very stately looking razor, plain and simple. I am going to be shouting from the rooftop of somewhere very high nothing but praise for this razor. The razors I was using are mere toys compared to this piece of machinery.

Reviewer: Gordon H. (Grand Rapids, MI)

This was/is my first and only razor. It's what I learned DE shaving on and I can't imagine a better learning experience. It is gentle enough to not be overly aggressive but shaves enough off that you're not making 5 passes to get that BBS shave. I've found you have to find the right blade with this little guy because he'll show you how each blade acts. Also, the craftsmanship and attention to details is top of the line. Just awesome. Highly recommended!

Very well made with a gleaming chrome finish. This is my first safety razor so I can't compare with other ones. I wanted a razor that was bigger than a Merkur 34C but smaller than the 38c Barberpole. This razor is sized in between those two while still having enough weight to do the job. I have used it for a week now(6 shaves) with a badger brush and omega soap. Almost a perfect shave for me but I need a little more practice. I used a Kai blade.
