Just received the Edwin Jagger model DE89L razor. It is the best razor I have ever used
I could have saved a lot of money by buying this razor a few months ago. Compared to
Wesihi, Parker, etc, is most superior. Cuts smooth and leaves no nicks or irritation. I have sensitive skin and I have had no problems using this razor.

I recieved my new razer today. Showered and applied Proraso Pre-shave Cream...mixed up some Uberlather using Musgal Cream, glycerin, and Neutrogena Face Bar...then a three pass shave followed with an Alum Bar and Musgal Cream After Shave. Simply submime...BBS shave, no irritation. Cannot wait till the next shave. This is by far my favorite razer paired with a Merkur blade. Not aggressive at all...but what it lacks in aggression it by far makes up in pleasure and results.

I had been wetshaving for almost a year with a standard 50's Gillette Superspeed. In this time I had learned to get the most out of it, which isn't saying much because I was never able to get a close and smooth shave. Then I decide to get this EJ89L and all of a sudden I can get the smoothest shave ever on my very first use. It is meticulously crafted with a beautiful chrome finish. If you are a DE wetshaver you must have this razor. Plain and simple. |

I just received this razor today from Royal shave and after using it for my very first DE shave I have to say its a great razor. The handle was long enough for my hands and the weight felt extremely comfortable. I paired it with a feather blade from the sampler pack I bought off here as well. On my first DE shave I managed to shave my face and then my entire head with this razor and only managed to nick myself twice in the same spot which is a small mole on the side of my face near my ear. If your thinking of getting into DE wet shaving this is an awesome razor to start with. After just one use I'm converted.

I received my DE 89L razor today from RoyalShave, lathered up with T.O.B.S. Lemon/Lime and completed a 3 pass shave. It was the best shave I've had in my 1 year wet shaving career. I previously used a Merkur 33c, and in my experience the Edwin Jagger blows it out of the water. I will be ordering a second one in the future. RoyalShave also has lightning quick shipments as well. Thank you

I picked this razor up due to the strong following it has quickly built. It has an incredible finish, which doesn't even compare to the bigger brands, and the shave is fantastic. It is a very forgiving razor, that gives very close smooth shaves. I highly recommend it.
Royal Shave also gets top reviews. Quick shipping and friendly service. Thank you!

I was looking for my first DE razor, and purchased the Edwin Jagger on good reviews. Just like the earlier reviews, this is a great razor at a great price. I've been using it for about a month now and I'm very happy. I like the lined look of the handle and it is a nice looking razor over all. It has a bit of weight to the handle, but its great for me.

This was my first DE razor and I couldn't be any happier with it. It doesn't take to much practice to get a working angle with it and it feels great in your hand. If your looking at getting into the whole DE shave thing this is a great place to start, just don't forget to pick up a blade mix pack.
On a side note: The guys here at royalshave will take real good care of you!

I have a few DE razors: Muhle R89, Merkur(Progress,hd-34c,39c,45 bakelite, Edwin Jagger DE89L. Edwin Jagger DE89L IMHO is THE BEST BUY !!! Quality is 2nd to none, weight is just right, finish/plating same if not better than Muhle, price $$$ CAN NOT BE MATCHED. Excellent 1st and may be last DE razor you will ever need. If I had to choose just one, this would be it. Other must have item Cella soap :)

This is a pretty amazing razor at a very economical price. Fantastic option for new DE shavers who want a superior razor but don't want to spend a lot upfront. Very impressive build quality and materials. Weight is just right. And the longer handle is a great choice for those transitioning from cartridge and disposables. It will feel very familiar. At this price, you can't go wrong. Actually, you'll be pretty amazed at how much razor you get for just $32. |

Out of the box the chrome finish of the Edwin Jagger DE89L was amazing. The finish was polished to a crisp sparkle. There is a good heft to the overall razor and the balance is consistent throughout. Some people may prefer a lighter handle so that the shave head is heavier, but these are just personal preferences.
Some have mentioned that there is not enough grip with the lined handle but I have not had any issues even when my hands were wet. Using Derby Extra razor blades and Col. Conk Shave soap, I could get a super smooth, irritation free shave with 2 passes (with the grain, against the grain).
Summary: A great razor with an outstanding build quality with an almost flawless chrome finish. Shaves a little bit less aggressive than the Merkur 34c. Unbeatable price when compared to the Muhle 89R which uses the same razor head.

Fit and finish on the DE89L is excellent. If you're considering a Merkur as a starter DE then don't overlook the Edwin Jagger DE98L as an alternative.
