As another reviewer stated, the finish on this is perfect, a real work of art. Using this razor actually makes shaving fun again. I am new to DE shaving so I am still getting the hang of it, but so far using this razor with Merkur blades, I get an incredibly close shave. As for my shopping experience with Royal Shave, it has been excellent. I ordered the razor on Friday and received it on the following Wednesday (3 business days later), much faster than expected.

New wet-shaver here with relatively, non-thick facial hair. Need to shave 2-3x a week. After a lot of research I was really going to go with Merkur 34C or the EJ89L(? - the one with lines) as recommended by most for a new wet shaver. Was worried about the concerns of Merkur being rough on my face and the EJ being too pretty but not as durable as a Merkur. I went with the EJ that looked like a Merkur 34c. This thing is not only a work of art, it's given me great shaves I've never had before with my electric. My face feels like a baby's butt. After my 3rd try, no nicks. If you're like me and on the fence between Merkur and EJ, this is one purchase that I have ZERO buyer's remorse. The little "dots" make you feel like you have complete control.

First time with a DE razor. I got this razor and the Feather blades. This is hands-down the best shave I've ever had. Better even than my barber does with a straight razor!

The Edwin Jagger DE8911 is purported to be a revised version of the original DE89. Honestly the only difference I noticed is the cosmetic difference at the end of the barrell. That's not taking anything away from the fact that both choices are far and away the best shave you can get in that price bracket. I have the DE89 and received this DE8911 Barley Grip as a Christmas gift. The machining on this razor is a thing of wonder and beauty. There is literally not a single flaw to be found and you can spend an hour just admiring the chrome and finish on this thing. The shave you get from on of these is of the smoothest you will ever find. It obliterates a week long beard without blinking, leaving you clean and smooth beyond your wildest expectations. Everyone should own one of these, as it is easily a yardstick by which all other razors could be measured. The only negative thing I can scrounge up about this razor is the packaging. The outer box is attractive and intricate but the razor itself is thrown in there with just tissue paper wrapped around it. An absolute must-have without question.

Firstly I have to give props to Royal Shave, this was my first order from them and I had everything in less than 48 hours coming all the way from CA. I've been using a sub par butterfly DE razor for about a year using Astra Platinum blades and it cut O.K. but I knew a better razor would make a huge difference. Upon opening the Edwin Jagger box you notice how nicely the razor is packaged. The machining of the razor itself and chrome finish were perfect, there are no rough looking spots on the metal even under the head like you may see on other razors. The knurled handle on the DE89BA11 provides excellent grip even when my hands were wet and it also has a very nice weight and doesn't feel cheap . The shave itself was amazing, I didn't cut myself once and it left me baby smooth. I feel that I made an excellent choice with the Edwin Jagger.

After reading reviews on different de razors, I decided to make the Edwin jagger de89ba11 my first de razor. I couldn't be more pleased. The razor was easy to shave with, weight is perfect, and all around just feels good in the last razor I owned was a Gillette fusion proglide, which is a decent razor, but after using this razor I would never go back. Especially when you compare prices for blades. On another note, I went with free shipping option from royal shave, ordered it on Thursday and it arrived on Monday. I'll definately be doing buisiness with this company in the near future. Plus their products are not overpriced.

I just got this razor in the mail yesterday and have already used it twice (two passes in each shave). It's everything I hoped it would be - heavy, high quality construction with refined detail. I thought this handle looked better than the lined because it's not as reflective but still as shiny. It probably provides a little better grip as well. I did a LOT of research before buying this, and I'm glad I settled on it after almost buying a Merkur.

This is my second double edge razor. The first was a recent purchase of a Weishi razor kit just so I could find out whether I wanted to get into a double edge. The Edwin Jagger is so much better and while I'm still getting the hang of this razor, it shaves great! I wish I had got into this type of shaving sooner! As a rookie, I appreciate some tips on using this razor.

I got this razor for Christmas and have shaved with it 3 times now, and I think it is great. It is my first safety razor, and I would definitely recommend it to someone who is looking to purchase their first safety razor. It feels pretty good in the hand, and the barley chrome finish is beautiful. Even though the grip is textured, it can still be a little slippery with wet soapy hands, so be careful. Overall, I love it, and I think it is a great buy.

Like A. Silverman above, I had been using a vintage Gillette (Super Speed) DE with mixed results, so after checking discussions on Badger and Blade I decided to give this razor a shot. I've been really pleased. Like everyone says about Edwin Jagger razors, the chrome is flawless and beautiful, and the knurling on the handle gives it a nice vintage look (like the Super Speed). The weight and balance are good, though with wet hands I have to be more careful that I did with the Gillette. The cut seems more aggressive (not unpleasantly so). I've had very good results with Astra blades.

After using my dads 50 year old, butterfly type gillette, and ripping my face to shreds, I was off DE shaving forever. I watched some videos and read some blogs and decided it was the equipment and not the user. I ordered this razor and it came super fast. First off, it is beautiful piece of equipment. Heavy, well balanced, and shiney chrome. I used the sample pack of Derby Blades and I'm a convert. I look forward to my shaves now. I love the feel of my new razor and have not had a nick or cut in 2 weeks. That includes 2 passes and against the grain at times. Don't be fooled...it is a razor that needs to be respected. use it right, you'll never shave another way.

Very well made and it gave a great smooth shave with a feather blade. It looks great and feels great to use. It also came quickly in the mail from Royal Shave.

I have been using a bake lite handled Gillete twist to open model for about 4 months, and I decided to purchase this to replace it. Amazing shave! The razor is gorgeous. Top quality and the Chrome is the real deal. If it's dirty you will notice! Shaves extremely close with a feather blade. Look forward to having this for 20+ years.

I purchased this DE about a month ago and love it. The knurl is flawless as is the chrome plating. Not a single flaw was found. It is simple to change out the blades. The blade deflection is nice as well.
