I concur that this big heavy blade will not dig in and cut you. I use it every day and it is my favorite. It's size and heft give excellent control on the strop and on the face. It's also a breeze to touch up on the hone. |

The half hollow razor is much easer to shave with than a full hollow razor as you will seldom nick yourself, or if you do it will be a slight nick.. I have one of these razors and I shave with it daily and it has become my favorite. I have only honed once on Japanese #8000 grit super water stone once when I first purchased it months ago. I use a paddle strop, much easer to use and sharpen the razor on than a hanging strop. The paddle strop has a suede side which I sprayed with diamond bort .5 micron and a balsawood side which has chromium oxide applied to it sparingly, after shaving I rinse the razor and place the razor in a barber's sterilizer (so it's sterile everyday) for a while and then rinse it out in hot water and blow it off whit compressed air. When toughly dried it then strop the razor on the suede side of the paddle a few times, wipe it off (removes diamond grit) and then strop it on the balsawood side of the paddle, then apply oil to protect it from corrosion. This process has consistently given me a super sharp razor every single day, day in and day out
I would also, say that this razor is a wonderful choice for your first razor, it will shave with ease the most stubborn beard and you are much less likely to nick yourself with it than a full hollow blade. Don't waste your money on a Gillette System as Gillette gets the System/money and you get the shaft plus a crummy shave!
