The Dovo Shavette is a convenient and affordable way to get started with straight razor shaving. This shavette has a stainless steel handle with a satin finish. It's also great for traveling and barbershops or stylists. The razor holds plastic inserts which house the disposable blades. This shavette includes one red insert and one black insert.
Red Inserts: Uses standard double edge blades which are snapped in half thereby doubling the economy factor.
Black Inserts: Uses a longer double edge blade which is preferred for long term shaving.

I used this shavette to learn Straight razor shaving, and to see how I liked using an open blade before spending hundreds on a razor, strope, hones, etc that are necessary for traditional straight razors. Turns out I loved it and never looked back, I still use this razor for traveling.
As it comes, its a little different than the real thing as the cutting area is the size of a DE razor, but if you get a green or black insert and the corresponding blades its very close to the real thing.
If you are sure you are a straight razor guy, but want a nicer razor, or don't want to deal with all the maintenance and stropping etc, try a Feather Artist DX/RG, they are great.
overall its a great buy at around $35 |

i used this razor about 2 years ago before i started using my straight razor and i'm so glad i did. the technique is going to be a little different during the transition, but the control you learn from using this is so valuable - trust me! would recommend this to anyone that wants to pick up that straight razor but is a little too nervous to cut off more than just their beard!
