I have been a DE shaver for a short time and honestly almost quit as soon as I started because I did not care much for the Parker I got at first. But a little while ago my wife and son got me a 1960 (the year I was born) Gillette Fat Boy and I have loved it.
HOWEVER, this set on the other hand, well, it's a whole different meditation like situation. I may never shave with anything else. Heck, I may never even leave the sink. The razor is a real work of art and it is SUPER SMOOTH with the Merkur platinum blades. The brush (which I think is made by Dovo) is unbelievably soft and gives a really great feeling applying the lather on my face.
OK, so the mug is small, I don't need a Big Gulp full of lather. Who does? So for me, it works very well.
This set is not only the coolest looking thing you could possibly have in your grooming area, it quite simply takes shaving up to a whole new level.

I decided to get started with DE shaving getting a top of the line setup. The Merkur Vision 4 piece set fits the bill perfectly. The stand is first rate and it holds the brush and razor securely. The frosted glass bowl is kind of small to built your lather in but it's an excellent drip guard to protect your countertop when you place your shaving tools to dry. The brush is wonderful but you should be advised NOT to sink the handle in hot water as the metal handle will get very hot to the touch. I just leave the handle out of the water and it's manageable after a couple seconds of gripping it. The Vision razor is simply put the BEST razor out there!
