I got tired of buying "name your blade here", so when I decided to make the switch to DE Safety, I chose the Merkur Futur. I have been using for over a month now and absolutely love it...The customer service of RoyalShave is phenomenal! They handled my order to a T and did indeed honor the price match guarantee. I learned to shave 40 years ago with a double-edge safety razor but then spent 25 years using disposables and 15 using high-end electric shavers. When I chose to start wet-shaving again on Christmas 2010, this was the set I bought and I cannot be happier with it. The Merkur Futur is a first-class piece of equipment, and everything else in the kit is of the same quality. I've also found the folks at Royal Shave to be top-notch in terms of customer care and responsiveness.

I admit I bought the Merkur Futur four piece polished finished set because I thought it looked terrific. But, as I discovered when I got it, it gives an equally terrific shave, both very comfortable and close. No cartridge razor I've used comes close. The adjustable razor bar allows the user to set the blade to their level of comfort and skill and the weight of the razor lets it rather than the user do the work. The brush is capable of whipping up copious amounts of foam quickly and laying it down smoothly and softly on the face. One of my favorite purchases of any type of the past year.
