I got this for my dad per a suggestion from one of my guy friends and he absolutely LOVES it. I think my dad was getting sick of the generic tie and socks for Christmas, so I splurged a little bit and picked him up one of these sets and he was obviously a lot more excited about it when he opened it. I got it while it was on sale at RoyalShave too so it made an awesome present. At least from now on I can keep buying him shaving creams and soaps for him to try. Thanks RoyalShave!

From the cream, the the razor, everything is of good quality. I especially enjoy the stand for my badger brush and razor, because instead of stashing them away, I can set them out and it's another part of decoration for my bathroom that isn't so girlie like hand towels.
The razor is of nice quality and weight, so that the razor will do most of the work without having to press the razor aggressively. I don't think many people would have a hard time figuring out how to use it if it is there first time. My best advise, go slow and feel the blade. By the end of your first shave you'll have it down!
The brush is amazingly soft, and I enjoy using it to lather up as part of my shaving routine. Not much else to say, although I have been using it for a week, and I keep finding the badger hairs on my face, so they are falling out. Not sure if that is normal as I have never used a brush before, but I don't see it as a big deal yet, cause there are thousands and thousands of hairs, and only one or 2 every shave fall out.
The shaving cream is interesting, it gives great lubrication for the shave, and when I rinse my face off afterwards, the cool water feels like ice across my face. I love it.
The cup is neat, I put the cream directly on the brush, then use the cup to get a good lather going before applying it to my face. When I'm all done I rinse the cup out, and set it next to my stand and my manly decoration is complete!
Great all around set to get you started, I've already recommended this set to a couple of friends!

Merkur razors are hands down the best, and the 33C is the easiest to master. The Merkur blades are the finest available. I would skip the Wilkinson blades as they will tear up your faces. The Proasso shave cream is the best you can get for the money. I would recommend this set to any beginner.
