I purchased the Feather Artist with the professional blade. Almost give up on it because could not have a shave without too many cuts. Then decided to try the Pro guard and it is a hole different game. I was able to shave , enjoy it and not cut myself.
Highly recommend for someone starting with a straight blade.

I am a little backwards because I began with straight razors then went to the feather razor. I chose the pro guard blade and loved them. They seem to just float along where they should be without any pressure on them for a close shave. I eventually bought a teak handled AC razor and I plan on keeping it for life. If you are planning on trying one the difference between the feather razor and the "shavette" is huge. Go ahead and spend the cash, you will get quality for doing so. I have only had a small knick or two and that was only when I began trying one.Forget about all those "bloodbath" comments also. With the pro guard blade you have to screw up pretty bad to get cut. I recomend these blades if you have a feather razor and if you dont? Buy one!
