5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 First badger brush - but sheds every day, 5.4.2013
Reviewer: Robert Torres (Midland Park, NJ)

I feel like maybe I received a "lemon" version of this badger brush, my first, because 95% of the reviews here are all positive. I stopped counting the shed hairs, which started the very first time I used the brush. I immediately emailed customer support who told me that it was a natural occurance and would soon stop, but my brush has passed the one year mark and it will shed on average 3-5 hairs each daily shave. My brush is now at half of it's original volume (shape), as it has literally lost hundreds of hairs in one year's time of almost daily shaves. I am ready soon to be compelled to buy another brush as this one is fairly slim right now. I will not buy this brand again, even though it said it came from Germany. Too bad. Maybe just my bad luck this time, when everyone here has had a great experience with it and positive words? Oh well, some folks say there's a real nice quality badger brush about $10 out there. We'll see. I'll let you know. Sorry for long note.

I usually shave every other day, been using the same brush since Feb of 2010. Dollar for dollar, this is a great brush. Soft with great lather. I would buy again.

Reviewer: James (Las Vegas, NV)

I called in to get a shaving brush recommendation from royalshave since all of this is new to me. this is the brush they recommended and i picked it up since it seemed to be reasonably priced. It seemed comparable to the ones that I've seen at The Art of Shaving, but other than that, I didn't really have anything else to compare it to. After the first couple of times using it, it shed a bit so I called royalshave to see if this was normal. they told me to continue using it for another 4-6 weeks and sure enough, it stop shedding. Overall, I will probably pick up another brush in a few years, but I think I'll be happy with this brush until then. Would recommend!

3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Great knot, but chinsy handle and what a shedder!, 3.28.2012
Reviewer: Vladimir Ferdman (, )

I bought this brush as a very first badger brush and as a beginner wet shaver. Although the badger knot on this brush is very nice and full, it sheds and keeps shedding for almost two months now! The handle of this brush is hollow and feels cheap in hand. It is very light and just does not have the feel to it that a good best badger brush should. I actually drilled the back of the handle on mine and filled it with epoxy. This improved the feel a lot. I realize this is kind of a low cost best badger brush, but you could do a lot better for the same or less money buying a Simpson Special in pure ($25) or best ($45). You will get a solid handle, Simpson quality overstuffed badger knot, albeit in smaller size. If I had to do it again, I would go with Simpson Special in best over this brush.

This is a great brush. It stinks horribly and sheds hairs for the first week...but after that is an excellent brush with good water holding and soft feel. I have no desire to "upgrade" after getting this brush.

This brush is great for the price. It is fairly inexpensive and will last a long time. Definitely well worth the money

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 This brush gives you a good lather, 4.2.2011
Reviewer: Dave (Long Island, NY)

I oredered one of these a while back in the antique white color. So far I have been very happy with it. It holds water very well, and allows me to whip up a nice lather in no-time. It sheds a hair now and then, but no complaints really. Tough to beat for its cost. If you rinse it well, and store it properly, it looks like it will last quite some time.

4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Great performer, but sheds worse than my dog!, 2.11.2011
Reviewer: Will (, Az)

Ive been using this brush for 1 and a half months and it performs great! It lathers soaps and creams with ease and after a short break in is very soft on the face. I love the look of the white handle, and it fits perfectly in the Col. Conk razor/brush stank. My only complaint is that for the entire time ive had it it sheds 5-10 hairs each time i shave. While this doesn't effect the performance it gets annoying.

I only own two brushes, this and a cheap Tweezerman. This brush is so much better. This brush is softer than the Silvertip brush that I felt in The Art of Shaving store. Super soft great lather. I love this brush!

I love this brush. For the money you can't beat it. I've seen inferior brushes go for much more than this.

This is an excellent buy; you can spend a lot more and get a lot less than this brush. I have a rack of 4 of my best shaving brushs that I use daily, some that I paid $120.00 dollars for and this one sets on that rack. That's how good of a brush it is........ You won't get stung purchasing this brush!

this is my first brush and I am happy with it. I'm picky about what I buy. this one is soft and has a nice size, anything bigger would just be over kill. I don't think anyone else would give you such a good product at this price point. Thanks!

I was positive surprised by the quality of the brush. The handle does look very expensive, although plastic. It is off-white, which I like. And the bristles are best badger; all this made in Germany for less than $30?
